Bifurcation Bill: Undemocratic Methods

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on February 19, 2014.

The Andhra Pradesh Bifurcation Bill has been adopted in the Lok Sabha in an undemocratic way violating all norms and procedures.

The division of the first linguistically re-organised state in India is a vitally important issue. But no debate took place on the Bill and it was adopted in the din by a “voice vote”. The demand for a discussion made by some opposition parties was denied.

AAP for an “Honest” Neo-Liberalism?

THE Aam Aadmi Party leader, Arvind Kejriwal, has spoken at a CII meeting in Delhi recently about his party’s economic policy outlook. In the absence of a full-fledged economic policy document of the AAP, Kejriwal’s remarks in the speech gives an indication of the ideology and policy approach of the AAP.

Kejriwal said, “Government has no business in business. Government should not do business. All this should be left to the private sector”. He also declared that he was against the inspector raj and licence raj.

On Aseemanand’s Revelation

THE explosive material revealed in the article based on interviews given by Aseemanand to The Caravan magazine raises very serious questions which require further investigation. Aseemanand has revealed his links with the top leadership of the RSS while planning the series of terrorist bomb blasts on civilian targets.

Stop Attacks on People from North-East

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) issued the following statement on February 12, 2014.

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) expresses its deep concern at the continuing attacks on people from the North-East in Delhi. After the death of the Arunachal student, Nido Taniam, several other incidents have occurred, including the rape of a minor girl from Manipur and physical attacks on other young men.

SFI Condoles Nido Taniam

THE central executive committee of the Students’ Federation of India in a statement issued on February 1, 2013 expressed heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Nido Taniam, the 19-year old student studying at Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar, who was brutally attacked by shopkeepers at Lajpat Nagar in New Delhi, before succumbing to his death on January 31. Following as it does the horrific incident of the gang-rape of a Danish woman, this incident reminds us that despite the tall promises by the incumbent government, Delhi remains to be an extremely unsafe city.
