Indiscriminate Arrests of JNU Students Condemned

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on February 12, 2016.

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the indiscriminate arrests of Left and progressive student leaders from the JNU campus. It is reported that currently the police is conducting a combing operation in JNU and its hostels.

Police have raided hostels without any arrest warrant indiscriminately searching for student leaders. The presence of police in the campus and such indiscriminate arrests from hostels had last happened during the Emergency.

A Welcome Decision

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on February 9.

THE CPI (M) welcomes the decision of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) disallowing service providers from offering or charging discriminatory tariffs for data services on the basis of content.  The CPI(M) has always held that net neutrality is a fundamental pillar of the internet.

CTUs to Hold All India Protest Day on March 10

The central trade unions reviewed the drastically deteriorating conditions of work and life of the working people and the government’s going ahead with labour law amendments, disinvestment of PSUs and allowing FDI in strategic sectors. The government, it appears, does not want to wait for legislating these anti-worker labour law amendments; it is taking away the rights of workers by way of executive orders and directing the state governments to carry out such pro-management amendments.

CITU Denounces Govt Decision to Exempt Start-Up Companies from Labour Laws

THE Centre of Indian Trade Unions in a statement issued on January 27 has denounced the brazen anti-worker designs of the government of India to grant virtual exemption to the start-up companies, including five year old registered establishments with an annual turnover of not more than Rs 25 crore, from the obligations under nine basic labour laws. It has done this on the plea of “handholding and nurturing” the so-called start-up companies, announced by the prime minister only recently.

Book VC for Student's Suicide

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on January 18.

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) expresses its deep anguish at the suicide of a dalit student, Vemula Rohit, in the Central University of Hyderabad.

The five dalit students were on indefinite hunger strike protesting against the newly-appointed vice chancellor’s decision to rusticate them from the hostels of the University.

On CPI(M)’s Electoral Tactics

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on January 17, 2016.

THERE is a lot of speculation over the tactics that the CPI(M) will employ in the forthcoming elections to the state assemblies. The CPI(M)’s electoral tactics will be in accordance with the political-tactical line adopted at its 21st Party Congress. The Polit Bureau and the Central Committee will take a decision at an appropriate time regarding electoral tactics in each of these states.

On Lavalin Case: Kerala

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on January 14, 2016.

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) condemns the politically motivated Congress-led UDF government’s move in approaching the Kerala High Court for an early hearing of the revision petition on allegations against CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Pinarayi Vijayan in the Lavalin case.

Terrorist Strike Condemned

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on January 5.

THE Polit Bureau strongly condemns the terrorist attack on the Indian Air Force base at Pathankot.  The ongoing operation to clear the terrorists from the base has entered the fourth day.  Seven defence and security personnel have died fighting the terrorist squad.  The Polit Bureau conveys its heartfelt condolences to the families of these brave men who have laid down their lives in the line of duty.
