On the Singur Judgment

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on September 2, 2016.
The Supreme Court has struck down the 997 acres of land acquired in Singur meant for the Tata car project.
The then Left Front government had intended through this project to develop industry and thereby create jobs in the state.
 

Tripura: Foil Divisive Designs

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on August 24, 2016.

The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) condemns the incidents of violence in Agartala city in Tripura.  These are a result of the violent behaviour of some of the participants in a rally organised by the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT).  The IPFT is carrying on a divisive campaign for a separate state for the tribal people.  These incidents were pre-planned and certain opposition parties sought to exploit the situation.
 

Terrorist Attack in Assam Condemned

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on August 5.

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the suspected terrorist attack at Balajan Tiniali Bazar near Kokrajhar town, headquarters of the Bodoland Territorial Area District (BTAD) administration. At least 14 innocent people were killed and 20 seriously injured when unidentified gunmen opened fire at the weekly bazar.

Immediately Restore Road Connectivity in Tripura

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on July 23
THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) expresses its serious concern at the disruption caused on the main arterial roadway to Tripura (formerly known as NH-44). This has led to a severe disruption in the supply of essential commodities to the people of Tripura. Reports indicate that the road access to Tripura would be disrupted for at least three months, if not longer.

Protest Dalit Atrocity in Gujarat

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on July 20, 2016.

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the attack on dalit men which took place in Una of Gir Somnath district in Gujarat.  Seven dalit men were assaulted with iron roads for skinning a dead cow, as a result of which they sustained serious injuries.  Four of them were paraded in the town.

This brutal attack has led to widespread protests by dalits all over the state which has been met with police repression. 

Gross Travesty of Justice

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on July 15, 2016.

THE order of a local Uttar Pradesh court to file an FIR against the members of the Akhlaq family on charges of cow slaughter is a gross travesty of justice. The petition was filed before the court by those involved in the brutal murder and lynching of Akhlaq and who have been pressurising the family to withdraw the case. Shockingly, the court gave the order without even hearing the lawyer of the family members.

Ensure Justice to Akhlaq’s Family: Brinda to Akhilesh

CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Brinda Karat has requested Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister to ensure that justice is done to the family of Mohammad Akhlaq, the victim of the lynching in Dadri last September. In a telephonic conversation and a subsequent letter, Karat also asked Yadav to look into the circumstances in which a court order was given under CrPC Section 156(3) for filing of an FIR against Akhlaq and his family members and investigating the charge of cow slaughter.

On West Bengal Meeting

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on July 11.

SOME distorted reports have appeared in sections of the media about the meeting of the West Bengal state committee of the Party attended by Polit Bureau members which was held on July 10, 2016 at Kolkata.
