Police Action on Christian Protest Condemned

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on February 6

THE CPI(M) strongly deplores the police actions against the demonstration organised outside the Sacred Heart Church to protest attacks on Christian churches in Delhi. The peaceful protest which included the participation of nuns and priests was forcibly dispersed by the police with lathis and all were arrested.

THE Aam Aadmi Party, under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal, has won an unprecedented and resounding mandate in the Delhi assembly election.  The CPI(M) congratulates the people of Delhi for decisively rejecting the Bharatiya Janata Party.  This massive mandate should enable the new government to adopt and implement policies in favour of the aam aadmi. 

CPI(M) Leader Writes to President Asking Not to Sanction Any Ordinance

Sitaram Yechury, MP and Leader of CPI(M) Group in the Rajya Sabha had written the following letter to the president of India on December 24, 2014 requesting him not to sanction any ordinance bypassing parliamentary procedures. The CPI(M) has always opposed such `ordinance raj’. Below is the text of the letter.

I am writing to you to express my deep concern on a matter, which in my opinion, constitutes a grave violation of the conduct of business in the houses of parliament, under the accepted rules.

Prohibit Forcible Reconversion

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) now in session in New Delhi has issued the following statement on December 21.

THE BJP and the RSS are indulging in doublespeak by talking about religious conversions. The RSS organisations are conducting a reconversion campaign targeting the minorities. The RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has justified this reconversion as bringing back people to their original faith. The episode of reconversion in Agra has exposed how false assurances and inducements were used for reconversion.

Stop Forced Conversions

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on December 11.

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the religious conversion of around 300 Muslims, mostly poor migrants from Bihar and West Bengal in Agra through false enticement, force and intimidation by the RSS/BJP.

Assam Killings Condemned

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on December 25, 2014

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the killings perpetrated by the gangs belonging to an extremist Bodo organisation. Forty eight adivasis including women and children were shot dead in five places in the jurisdiction of the Bodoland Territorial Autonomous District (BTAD) in Assam.
