CPI(M) Forms Two State Committees

IN the context of the Andhra Pradesh State Reorganisation Bill being passed and given assent to by the President of India, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has formed two separate committees for the two states that will come into existence on 02nd June 2014. The Telangana state committee of the Party has been formed with 42 members and the Andhra Pradesh state commiittee of the Party with 44 members.

Formation of Telangana and Tasks before the Left Movement

BY 02nd June 2014, there would be two states for the Telugu people. Andhra Pradesh was the first state in the country to be formed on linguistic basis after sustained struggles. Now, with the formation of separate Telangana state as the 29th state of Indian Union, a new chapter is set to begin in the the history of independent India. There is distinct possibility that new conflicts and contradictions will emerge between the two successor states and also within the states.

ANDHRA PRADESH: Militant Struggle of Anganwadi Employees

THE chief minister of Andhra Pradesh put in his papers on 19th February with the political turmoil in the state finally reaching an end with the division of the state. But no force on land could extinguish the fire in anganwadis of the state who began their second phase of agitation from 27th January when over 30,000 participated in dharnas before all collectorates. This phase of agitation culminated on 02nd March with the holding of public meetings wherein more than half a lakh anganwadis participated across the state.

AIFAWH Extends Solidarity to the Anganwadi Employees’ Struggle in AP

The All India Federation of Anganwadi Workers and Helpers (AIFAWH) in a statement issued on February 25, has extended full support to the struggle of the anganwadi workers and helpers in Andhra Pradesh demanding minimum wages and retirement benefits including pension and gratuity to all anganwadi workers and helpers. The struggle is led by the Andhra Pradesh Anganwadi Workers and Helpers’ Union. AIFAWH demanded the state government to immediately concede the genuine demands of the anganwadi workers and helpers in Andhra Pradesh.

“Post Bifurcation also People’s Struggles will Continue”

Speaking to reporters after the bill was passed on 18th February, the CPI(M) leader pointed out that the creation of separate state of Telangana has raised immense hopes among the people of that region while at the same time creating many apprehensions among people of Seemandhra region. The very same ruling classes that have failed to comprehensively develop the united state are set to rule in both the states. They would be implementing the same neo-liberal, World Bank-dictated policies. These policies will create new inequalities in both the states. People’s problems will not be solved.

DESPITE all the hype being created about the latest ‘Namo-Raga’ tune by the corporate media, the next central government is going to be yet another coalition government and it will be shaped only after the elections, asserted CPI(M) Polit Bureau member and Party leader in Rajya Sabha, Sitaram Yechury. He said this has been the history in our country post-Emergency period, from the first Janata Party government to the latest Manmohan Singh government and it is going to be repeated in the coming elections too.

Workers on Struggle Path across State

EVEN as the Delhi maneuverings to decide on the bifurcation issue reached a feverish pitch, the working people of all three regions of Andhra Pradesh are unitedly on struggle path centering around their genuine demands. The 1.8 lakh strong Anganwadi workers and helpers in the state are conducting indefinite hunger strikes demanding hike in wages. At the same time in support of over 60,000 outsourced sanitation workers in municipalities, nine workers’ unions undertook a five-day long strike across the state demanding hike in wages.

CPI(M) Electoral Tactics to be Finalised after Clarity on Bifurcation

THE Andhra Pradesh state committee of the CPI(M) has discussed about the electoral tactics to be adopted in the state for the 2014 Lok Sabha and assembly elections during its two-day long meeting that concluded on 02nd February in Hyderabad. It has resolved that the central committee of the Party must decide on the tactics keeping in mind the opinions expressed by the state committee.
