Bolsonaro Not Welcome

JAIR Bolsonaro, President of Brazil, is on a State visit to India and will be the chief guest at the Republic Day parade at the invitation of the Modi government.  This is a disgrace for the Indian people who are celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Indian Constitution. Bolsonaro is the anti-thesis of all the values enshrined in our constitution.

Don’t Politicise the Army

THE public remarks made by some leaders of the armed forces are a departure from the strictly professional and non-political role of the armed forces.  This is happening because the Modi government seems to be consciously encouraging the top echelons of the defence forces to air views in line with its Hindutva nationalist outlook. 

TN: Chennai Gets Ready to host 16th Conference of CITU

THE 16th conference of CITU is scheduled to be held in Chennai from January 23-27, 2020. With only a few days left, final touches are being given to the preparations for the conference. Chennai is hosting the all India conference for the third time.

The fourth all India conference of CITU was held in Madras in April 1979. At that time, with more than 5000 delegates, it was a Himalayan task for CITU and its fraternal organisations in Tamil Nadu to host the conference, which was successfully carried out.

THE internal situation in India during the late 1920s and early 1930s was quite complex. The repercussions of the Great Depression that engulfed the entire capitalist world were very painful to Indian people, because the British imperialists tried to resolve the crisis faced by their own country, at the expense of Indian people. Consequently, protests and anger against British rule further intensified and became more widespread.
