World Festival of Youth & Students: Carrying Forward the Legacy of Anti-Imperialist Struggle

THE 19th World Festival of Youth and Students (WFYS) was held in October in Sochi, Russia. More than 20,000 delegates from more than 150 countries participated in the festival and pledged to continue their relentless struggle to achieve peace, solidarity and social justice, with uncompromising fight against all imperialist tendencies in the present world order.

Students’ March against Attacks on Education, Democracy & Social Justice

THE Modi government has completed two-and-a-half years. The promise of ‘achhe din’ has vanished long ago and instead of that, we are seeing an all-out attack on the life and livelihoods of common people. Students and youths had voted in large numbers for BJP in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections with the hope that it would provide relief from the unrelenting miseries imposed by the Congress rule. However, the experience of these two-and-a-half years has proved to be contrary. This government has relegated education and employment -- the two prime agendas of the students in this country.

SFI Condemns ‘Vittiya Saksharta Abhiyaan’

THE central executive committee of the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) in a statement issued on December 8 has noted that the ministry of human resource development (MHRD) has shamelessly directed all higher educational institutions to launch campaigns in the name of ‘Vittiya Saksharta Abhiyaan’ using students and faculty members to campaign in favour of demonetisation from December 12- January 12. This is being done at a time when the drastic economic effects of demonetisation are being felt across the country, with the poor sections feeling the brunt of the attack.

Youth Organisations Hold Convention against Communalism
