THE first conference of Telangana Girijana Sangham was held at Achampet in Mahabubnagar district. Addressing a public meeting organised in connection with the inauguration of the two-day conference on April 17, CPI(M) MP from Tripura Jatin Choudary called upon the different sects of people belonging to the  Scheduled Tribes in the country to fight unitedly for their rights. TELANGANA: CPI(M) Demands Drought Relief Measures Padayatra in Mahabubnagar District

WITH severe drought conditions prevailing in several districts in Telangana and no relief measures forthcoming from the state government, to assess the field level situation, a team of leaders of the CPI(M) led by its state secretary Thammineni Veerabhadram conducted a padayatra on April 3,  in Mahabubnagar district, the most severely drought-affected area in the state. The team conducted padayatra in five mandals of Kalwakurthi, Vangoor, Achhampet, Balmur and Telakapalli, demanding drought relief measures and prevention of migration.

TELANGANA : CPI(M) Plenum Assails KCR Govt’s Authoritarian Rule

THE first plenum of the Telangana state committee of CPI(M), held in Nagarjuna Sagar, Nalgonda district from October 25th to 26th,  reviewed the political situation in the state and the severe problems facing the people. It adopted several resolutions on people’s issues, including on the grave agrarian crisis in the state and called upon the state government to take urgent steps to check the ongoing suicides of farmers.

FACED with growing resentment of people, the TRS government of Telangana is resorting to severe repression against people’s movements and opponents. Two Maoist leaders were killed by police in Warangal district making it the first encounter killings in the new state of Telangana. What shocked the people of the state was the police brutality against a woman Maoist cadre Shruti. Her body showed signs of gang-rape and torture.
