KERALA: Prime Accused Arrested in Abhimanyu Murder Case

THE prime accused in Abhimanyu murder case was arrested on July 18, by the Kerala police. Maharaja’s college unit president of Campus Front of India and third year BA Arabic history student Muhammad was arrested from Kerala-Karnataka border. Four others, who helped Muhammad to get shelter somewhere in Goa have also been arrested.

The police said that the conspiracy to kill leaders of SFI including Abhimanyu in Eranakulam Maharaja's college was hatched and the gruesome murder was executed by Muhammad. He had asked other accomplices to reach the college on the intervening night of June 30. Muhammad, who works as Campus Front Alappuzha district president, is a resident of Arookkutti in the northern border of Alappuzha district.

Campus Front leader Aadil was arrested on July 17.   The interrogation of Aadil led to the arrest of Muhammad. Kerala police team has brought Muhammad to Eranakulam police station for further interrogation.

SFI LEADER ATTACKED BY SDPI MEN

Even after the brutal murder of Abhimanyu which created unprecedented widespread protest against terrorist elements across the state, SDPI has not relented and kept on sharpening its weapons. The latest incident is an attack on Vishnu, 20 year old SFI leader from Kozhikode. Vishnu is a member of SFI Koyilandi area secretariat and secretary of SFI Karayad local committee. He was brutally attacked and was severely injured while attending a meeting of the DYFI. A gang of SDPI wearing masks and armed with swords and rods attacked him at 10 pm on July 16. Vishnu was admitted in Perambra taluk hospital but later he was shifted to Kozhikode medical college. Just a day before the attack, Vishnu and his comrades were threatened by SDPI men while they were staging a protest against the SDPI.

The district office bearer of SDPI Rayaroth Muhammed (36 years old) has been arrested in connection with the attack on Vishnu.

TP Ramakrishnan, state labour minister, PA Muhammed Riyas all India president of DYFI and Babu Paraseri, district panchayat president met Vishnu in the hospital.
