CPI(M) Rally Protests Burning of Church in East Delhi

HUNDREDS of activists from different areas of the national capital participated in a rally organised by the Delhi state committee of CPI(M) to protest the burning of a church in East Delhiā€™s Dilshad Garden. The protest rally began at Vithalbhai Patel House and marched towards the Home Ministry but it was stopped by police at the Krishi Bhawan roundabout. The rally was converted into a public meeting presided by Party secretariat member K M Tiwari. It was addressed by Party state secretariat member Anurag Saxena, Sehba Farooqi, P I Ravindranathan and Shivdasan from SFI, Pramod from DYFI and Anil Unithan from Jansanskriti. The speakers emphasised that RSS and BJP are continuously trying to polarise the society on communal lines. In different parts of Delhi as well as the country, the Sangh Parivar in the past year is creating communal hatred in the society. The incident of Trilok Puri, Bawana and now attack on church at Dilshad Garden are some of the glaring examples. It is now becoming a common tactics of RSS and BJP to create communal tensions and garner votes on those lines. All the speakers dwelt on the need to create environment of communal harmony in their areas and also to ensure that the minority people feel safe. They also demanded a judicial inquiry into the incident.
