THE Punjab state committee of the CPI(M) has decided to establish a research institute in memory of Comrade Harkishan Singh Surjeet at Chandigarh. The institute will be named as Comrade Harkishan Singh Surjeet Institute Of Social Sciences Research. This institute will take up research in emerging socio-economic and political problems and phenomenon in Punjab. CPI(M) state secretary Charan Singh Virdi said that an announcement to this effect was made at the public rally organized to observe the sixth death anniversary of Comrade Surjeet at his native village , Bundala (Jalandhar) on September 21, 2014.
