Campaign Picks Up in Tehri

A huge public meeting was organised in Sabhawala village in Vikasnagar area on March 31, in support of the CPI(M) candidate from Tehri constituency, Shiv Prasad Deoli. Addressing the public meeting, Shiv Prasad Deoli said that the country needs to be saved from the neo-liberal policies and politics of both the Congress and the BJP, and that there is an urgent need for alternative social, political and economic policies to be put in place. He said that only the CPI(M) and the Left could provide such an alternative whereby an independent, self-reliant economic system can be built, which paves the way for progress and development of the productive forces, as opposed to the corporates. This would increase employment and reduce socio-economic inequality. He added that strong measures needed to be taken towards curbing corruption and bringing in judicial and electoral reforms. CPI(M) state secretary, Vijay Rawat, and other local CPI(M) leaders also addressed the meeting.
